Our Team

Our dedicated team of nursery practitioners are all well-qualified, trained and DBS checked. They have had many years of experience in nurturing young minds and delivering creative and stimulating learning experiences.

Gemma Brown

Gemma has lead the Abingdon Team for 5 years, with nearly 20 years’ experience in Early Years, she is Level 3 qualified and is dedicated to moving the nursery and the staff forwards with ideas and events. She has a young daughter who also joins her at the nursery.

Gemma says:

“I am a passionate, organised and hands on leader who focusses on play based and discovery learning environments. I believe in fostering strong relationships with my families and having dynamic happy staff who work together as a team to provide a high standard of provision. I am excited to become part of the Duchess Nursery and wider Chatsworth Schools' family.”


Becky

Nursery Practitioner - Level 3


Becky is our Health and Wellbeing Coordinator and works in our Baby room. She has 5 years’ experience working in Early Years and has a Level 3 qualification. Becky joined the nursery in March 2017.
Becky says:
“I really enjoy watching children grow and develop in their own unique ways. I like supporting them with their confidence and to expand their interests through play and from my own experiences. Outside of work I spend time with my family and have started to enjoy scrapbooking! “

Steph

Pre-School Leader- Level 3


Steph is an experienced practitioner, Pre-School Leader and our Maths Coordinator. She has a Level 3 in Early Years and joined the nursery in April 2009.
Steph says:
“I have worked in childcare for 12 years and have loved helping children settle into nursery, watching them grow and develop, enabling me to form some lovely bonds with the children and their families. One of my passions is arts and crafts – helping the children create some beautiful master pieces whilst challenging their imaginations and learning new information to enhance their ideas and interests.”

Carol

Nursery Practitioner- Level 3


Carol is an experienced Level 3 Practitioner and is our Literacy Coordinator. She works in our Pre-school room and joined the nursery in May 2015.
Carol says:
“I have worked in childcare for over 20 years. Working in Pre-School I help to provide a range of activities covering various topics which support a stimulating and enabling environment to learn in. I find it very rewarding supporting the children through this stage of preparing them for school. Outside play is an area I enjoy, exploring different ways to enhance learning opportunities “

Abi

Nursery Practitioner- Level 2


Abi joined the nursery in 2018 having finished school and has since gained her Level 2 qualification. Abi is looking forward to starting her Level 3 training soon.
Abi says:
“I enjoy getting to know each and every child, exploring their interests with them, especially through messy activities. It is important to me that each child feels happy and confident at nursery. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with family and friends and love travelling to explore new places!

Lianne

Our lovely Nursery Cook!


Lianne is our Duchess Nursery caterer. She has 10 years’ experience in catering and joined the Duchess Nursery in October 2019.
Lianne says:
“I am a friendly, reliable and organised cook and Mum who is passionate about children eating healthily. I take great care to plan and cook all of our nutritional meals and snacks for the children. I am also developing a veggie and herb patch in our nursery garden. I am excited to be part of Duchess Nursery and to introduce the children to lots of new and exciting foods.
